My new Wineguard Satellite System

Postby Captain Ahab » Thu Sep 03, 2009 5:50 pm

I have just had an automatic Satellite system installed in my 5th wheel and I would just like to write and let folks know about both the shop that did it but also the system.
I at first contacted Peter Tischler of Starwatch Audio Video here in Kelowna, BC and told him that I wanted a system where I could be set up in Texas and with the push of one button I could be watching Team Canada play hockey at the Olympics this winter. His response was “no problem,” and he proceeded to bring in his installer and together they told me about a new system that Wineguard makes complete with a GPS already installed. Peter also told me that a large part of his business is made up of RV satellite systems. After agreeing to have that particular system installed Peter had me bring my 5th wheel down to his huge parking lot and drop it off the next morning at 9 AM.
When I returned at 3 PM I found my 5th wheel waiting for me with the new satellite system totally installed. I was given a full briefing on how the system works etc. and then with Peter’s help I set up a Star Choice or as it’s now known, Shaw Direct account.
I must say that even though it has only been a short time since I purchased the system
it has worked trouble free and exactly as it was described to me, a one button operation.
I am now really looking forward to watching all my local BC programs, especially hockey while on the road and would like to thank Peter and his excellent installer Bob for both their assistance and their quality workmanship.

So if any folks out there are thinking of getting a satellite system installed I highly recommend Starwatch Audio Visual to help you the system that works best for your individual requirements.

Good news. Having Star Choice installed on an RV is fairly new. We had Exp Vu installed with manual control in 2000 but Exp Vu is not RV friendly like Star Choice is. Star Choice works all the way to Belize and they offer support. A Star Choice adapter can be installed to my Hughes.net Internet Sat Dish from http://www.techmcw.com/ 8)

Good news. Would you consider sharing the approx price so everyone knows what the cost will be if they want one. Take care Guys. Thanks for sharing P&J 8) 8) 8)

I have no problem sharing the cost.
The complete one button Wineguard System installed 2999.00.
As I said I dropped the 5th wheel of at 9:00 and it was ready for me at 3:00. and both the installer and the owner were more than patient with all my questions and made sure that everything was to my satisfaction before I left.
